I've also assembled a Chaplain
Right now it is just the standard powermaul. Should I chop the end off and add something more Crozius?

Dark Angels Command Squad
I began work on my Dark Angels Army. I decided to start with the command squad to give me a jumping off point and to act as a guide for the rest of the project. I am breaking this down into managable units and wont start the next until one is done. This is just the build phase, I should have some primer down by the weekend and start painting sometime afterwards.
So, without further ado, I present Captain Tenniel, his command squad and transport.

Librarian change
I cant take a photo of the changes I made to the librarian yet, but it looks pretty cool!
I didnt like the thought of an axe for him with the changes to close combat weapons so I snipped off the axe heads..
It was still missing something so I was looking for bits to put as a topper... and then it struck me... These axe pieces could still function for something. I glued them back to back and turned it into a double bladed spear point. It turned out very nice! I cant wait to get picture posted of it!

A new Direction, a new Plan
Well, 40k 6e is upon us. New edtion means new a starter set and new codex releases. This time around the starter set will feature Dark Angels vrs Chaos Marines and Cultists. New host of miniatures to play with! Luckily both codexes will be be out by the end of the year or so. A perfect oportunity to get back into 40k with a new start.
A new start on two fronts for me. I definitely plan to get one new starter set, maybe two depending on how things look at release. This will be a lot of new miniatures and I am not going to let them go to waste this time.
What does this mean? It means that I'll be starting a Chaos army for one, and it means that I have finally made a decision on a chapter and color scheme. I'm rolling Dark Angels!
Why Dark Angels? Well, mainly because it is going to be a super simple paint scheme for me. My plan is to start painting the currently assembled army I have and have it done (or mostly done) before the next School Quarter starts in September. That gives me 10 weeks. Assembly is already done. All I need to do is start painting... Not an easy proposition, ut, I will be cutting down on the labor quite a bit for I have found a solution.. Army Painter.
Army Painter has had a line of colored primers for quite some time. Which is a really cool idea by the way. They took it a step further with their recently released Warpaints line of paints. These paints match 100% with their Color Primers. This means all I need to buy is a couple of cans of Angel Green Color Primer, a few bottles of Angel Green paint to touch up, a bottle of Greenskin paint for drybrush highlights and I'm done! I've got really good cream and bone colors with the P3 paints I own so I'll be able to do robes and terminators just fine without any new purchases.
Now, since my current army is based off the Vanilla Codex, I am planning to continue to use it thus until the new Dark Angels codex is released. This way I can continue to use my Redeemer and Storm Talon. Since I am not doing strictly Deathwing or Ravenwing armies, the current DA codex really doesnt do anything for me anyay.
So, this is my plan... This is my goal... I just need to stick with it! This means I could use any and all encouragement and motivation you all are willing to provide!
Help!

New HQ
So I butchered up one of the Space Hulk Terminator Librarians... He is now the HQ for my new list.
I'm thinking of adding a Storm Shield... What do you think?

Problems and Issues...
Yes, I have issues... which cause no end of problems for me... I am slightly OCD, so if a model isnt assembled just right, it makes me twitch... Even to the point I wont ever work on it again...
This also leads into my painting... I cant stand the thought of places on a model I cant reach... It drives me crazy... This leads me to having to break off arms and backpacks so I cant paint the whole model. This of course adds to the time it takes me to paint said models... Leading to the fact that I havent had a painted army since 2e...
I alctually had a pretty good start on 3 fully painted Salamanders Tactical squads back in late 3e and when 4e rolled in I dipped the whole lot of them... Now they sit half stripped in a bucket... I havent touched them in years...
Back before I lost my job and had my surgery in 2008, I sat down and wrote up a 1750 point army. I then purchased the whole thing in one go, thats pretty much what I listed in a previous post. I have an army. Its assembled and playable despite being completely unpaited.
And thats what I need to change. I WANT TO OWN A FULLY PAINTED ARMY! I'm serious this time... I am slightly embarrassed that its not even painted... Especially when I see some horrendous paint jobs on a table... and I know I can do the same if not better. This is partly why I havent really played much... In order to change this, I'm going to have to sit down and paint...
And that leads into another problem... Finding a color scheme I like and will be easy to paint and will look fairly decent once I am done. Problem here... I cant decide at all... I need a paint scheme that is going to be super easy and fast to paint so that my hangups wont slow me down very much... I also need something that stands out to me and screams character.
I just dont know what that is...

Taking Stock
I went through my jumble of sprues and a few boxes I had in my closet to try and see exactly what I have and what still needs assembling. It's a lot more than I thought, and some I had forgotten about.
So here is the list of stuff still need assembly:
3 Bastions
4 Aegis Defense Lines
4 Quad Guns
4 Lascannon Defense Guns
2 Rhino Chassis
14 Marines
I also need to finish assembly on that Magnetized Predator as well.
Thinking of Rhinos. Once I have the 2 fully unassembled Rhinos together, I'll have 7 Rhino Hulls. I'll be able to field the following:
7 Rhinos
or
1 Predator
1 Whirlwind
2 Assbacks (Assault Cannon Razorbacks)
2 Lasbacks (TL Lascannon Razorbacks)
2 Razorbacks (TL Heavy Bolters)
One more Rhino hull and I can field them all at one time.

Preparing for 6th!
As someone who has been playing Warhammer 40k since the Rogue Trader days I'm always having to redo my army every edition or so. Luckily I pretty much skipped 3rd, only got to play two games of 4e, and I played my first and only game of 5e last year... Kind of sucks that I really havent played much of one of the minis games I really enjoy since 2e...
With 6e released this weekend, I want to make a concerted effort to change this trend. I'll need to reevaluate my current army and then see what needs changing and what I might need to add to it in the future. I also need to paint the damn thing so I'll need to FINALLY decide on a chapter and color scheme. I'm probably just going to continue with standard Vanilla Marines, since going with a dedicated chapter would mean changes I cant afford. Plus with Vanillas, I can use my spiffy new Stormtalon!
Current Army is thus:
Terminator Assault Squad
-Sergeant
--Thunder hammer/Storm Shield
-x4 Lightning Claws
-Land Raider Redeemer
--Multi-Melta
Tactical Squad x10
-Sergeant
--Power Fist and Combi-Flamer
-Meltagun
-Multi-Melta
-Rhino
Tactical Squad x10
-Sergeant
--Power Fist and Combi-Melta
-Flamer
-Multi-Melta
-Rhino
Tactical Squad x10
-Sergeant
--Power Fist and Combi-Melta
-Plasma Gun
-Plasma Cannon
-Multi-Melta
Land Speeder
-Heavy Flamer
-Multi-Melta
Land Raider
-Multi-Melta
Originally this was supposed to be a Salamanders army. I dont know if that is the route I want to go now or not.
I definitely want to keep the Assault Termies in the Redeemer, I love those. I like the Land Speeders as well. I know there are a lot of points in having 2 Land Raiders... but I really like Land Raiders. So I need to figure out what to do with the three Tactical squads and decide on an HQ choice.
Oh, and I want to add a Stormtalon to the list.

I'm not dead yet!
So, I think I got my blog back... My gmail got hacked a while back and had to have it deleted... Evidently during that time there was a bit of a delay before I got control over the blog... It seems to be working know.
Well, since the last post back in August of last year or so, I've not done much of nothing... Star Wars the Old Republic happened... so yeah...
I did buy a Stormtalon, I'll try to take some pictures of it soon. I havent really magnetized it though... I still can as a few things are just lightly tacked down... wont be hard to do. I am probably going to bits extra side sponsons so I can use all the weapons.
I also tentively started assembly on my Marauders with Great Weapons... I need to get them situated on their bases and then snap some pics. I'll try to get all this posted this week.
