Steel Workers Union
Got another rank of Marauders done. Will post another progress pic later... When I'm done with both units I'll have two units of 30 (6x5) armed with Hand Weapon and Shield. I'm going to be building them both so that I can make one giant horde out of them just by placing the two units side by side. It'll be 12x5 Those 60 Marauders with Full Command and MoN is just 410 points...
Hateful little Bastards...
So.... I started the little buggers... just doing Hand Weapons and Shields for these guys... When I do a unit of Great Weapon wielders its going to be Bestigors... Cause they rock.
Here they are, first rank of 6:

Problems with Knights...
So, I built the first 5 knights already and I knew I was gonna add a second rank to the unit but unfortunately the knights themselves dont like to rank up if mounted to their bases in the back.... So I dont know how I'm gonna get 10 knights ranked up in two ranks without bits sticking farther from the front and back of the bases... Its gonna drive me nuts if I cant get this unit looking halfway decent.... GARRRGH!

The Knight Shift
Insomnia is a bitch mistress... I've had very LITTLE sleep the last few nights... But look what I made!
They still need shoulder pads... but mostly they are done...
When Harry met sally forth!
I got Harry cleaned up, assembled and based. He really looks impressive in a unit of Warriors, look how big he is!

Regarding Harry
So, I finally cracked open one of my two Harry the Hammer boxes today. I figure he will make a great Lord on foot model for my army. Even with my detest of metal minis I went ahead and opened him up. I've test fit and pinned it, still need to finish cleaning mold lines before I can glue him together. will probably use a tad bit of brownstuff at the joins for the leg... I want a stronger bond that superglue and pinning alone will give... I'll post pictures when I've got him assembled....
Did I mention how much I hate GW metal minis? I really really do...

Sorcerer's Apprentice
So, made another Sorcerer. I'm trying to use existing parts and I'm running out of good ones... This guy doesnt look as good as I'd like but its probably the best I can do for now...
I need something for the top of his staff...I dont know what to use.. Any suggestions?

Heroes on the Cheap 1.75
Woot! Just finished building my first Sorcerer. I used my last Warrior Champion body so I wont be able to make my General yet... But still, it turned out much better than I expected and I love the changes I made from the first attempt to this version.
Parts used:
Warrior Champion Torso
Warrior Champion Sword arm sans Sword hand (I lopped it off at the wrist)
New Genestealer hand
Knight Champion head
The book is from the High Elf Dragon Mage sprue that I trimmed down and added a Greenstuff tentacle to it.
And now close ups of the Tentacle Arm and Book:

So, I worked on my BSB a bit more today. Changed out the body and added new head (from new Knights kit) and a weapon (also from Knights). I kind of like this one better than before. The head looks a bit more Nurgly. Pictures came out a little darker, dont know why but here he is.
He is eventually going to get one of those Chaos Space Marine Icons of Nurgle for the banner top. The normal rank and file units will just have the metal Nurgle icons for banner tops. Should look really nice once I have them all done.

Modelling Heroes on the Cheap.
I've not talked much about my choices for heroes and lords for my Army List yet... Still trying to decide what to take... Two things that are certain, BSB and at least one Chaos Sorcerer. I've even got them somewhat modelled up. Here is more BSB. I got an extra Standard from the new Knights kit from a friend. It works really well! What do you think? As you can see, these guys are built on the cheap
I'm also working on a Sorcerer. I'm having a bit of a problem decided which one looks better....
or:
Adventures in OCD. or better known as "What I've already got done"
Lets talk miniatures.
Ok... I've got problems. I have some OCD tendencies that make assembling and painting minis rather frustrating.... Its not so bad in the assembly department but watch out when I start painting... I start to twitch... Things have to be just right... arms have to be popped off so every inch of the model is properly painted... makes for a very LONG process of which I get frustrated easily and quit after only a short time...
So I've got this Warriors of Chaos army that I started not long after WFB7e came out... I got 36 Warriors all assembled and set up on their bases. They are set up in two units of 18 with each rank and file meticulously placed on its base so that they fit exactly without bumping into each other. I've even numbered the underside of each base for which order they go into the unit.
Once I had those done I started building the Marauders... I built two and stopped... Oh the frustrations... They suck... It didn't help that I was super sick at the time and popping narcotics like candy (12 a day) for pain management... Still, I'm not really looking forward to going back to them...
With 8e looming large I've gotten back into it again. I really want to play again damn it! So here we are.... I got out my Warriors, washed the 2 years of dust off and then primed them white. I need to increase each unit by 3 more to bring them to two units of 21 each and I've got the 6 extras already mounted to their bases, still needs heads and arms. I also chose a color scheme too. Here are some pictures! PROOF!

A new Edition requires a new Army List!
So, here we are with WFB 8th Edition out within just a few days. Time for me to decide on an army to build and a List to finalize. I think one of my most daunting tasks when it comes to any minis game is army list building... There are so many pretty choices... I don't deal well with choices... I don't know where to begin and when to stop... This is probably the second thing about the hobby I find really frustrating...
I've been talking to a friend of mine and I've finally decided that I'll get my Warriors of Chaos army off the ground. That part was easy. I've been hemming and hawing since I got these minis what I was going to do with them. The new Warriors of Chaos book goes a little against my grain with its emphasis on Chaos Undivided and the ability to take a ton of things from all the Chaos Gods equally... As a long time follower of the Warhammer universe, this kind of goes against the grain of what I've known for the last 10+ years... The 4 chaos gods don't work well together or downright hate one another and to me that's still part of how I see it. So, a Mono list is definitely the only way I can go...
Originally I was contemplating going with an all Khorne army but that's just not where my heart is. Honestly, I've been a HUGE Nurgle fan for as long as I can remember. The only problem though was all the paint schemes and modeling makes Nurgle armies all bloated and filthy with disease and rot... That's great, really part and parcel with the fluff for Nurgle (God of Pestilence after all) but just doesnt float my boat... I don't see any reason why this has to be the way I do it... Half the hobby is making your army your own. So that's what I'm going to do, make it my own. A Nurgle Army for a Cleaner Tomorrow!
So there we have it. A mono-Nurgle Warriors of Chaos Army. And now comes the hard parts... What to take... I've never been one for "uber" or "competitive" lists. I prefer to take things I like and enjoy and looks good on the battlefield, not whats going to win the game by second turn (where's the fun in that, right?).
For WoC, that means Warriors of Chaos. I really love the looks of these guys. They look so cool in a big block. These are going to have to be the core of my army. Now, most people will balk when I say this.... But as a true follower of Nurgle I need to bide by his Sacred Number of 7... So this means all units in my army must be divisible by 7... Yes, I know this is going to be expensive and probably wont win me many battles... But hey.... It's my army.... Hopefully by following the true tenants of Nurgle the dice will roll in my favor at least a few times, right? Luckily I've got two of these units mostly built already. Just need to build 6 more guys.
Warriors of Chaos x21 (7x3) 396pts
-Mark of Nurgle
-Shield
- Full Command
Now my least favorite models in the army.... Marauders... Yeah, they are a lot better than the older models but these are a real pain in the arse to assemble... And unfortunately I've only assembled two... I think the other reason I dislike them so much is they remind me of Mr Slave from South Park.... Wish they looked more like Norse Vikings than Leather Bondage freaks... But oh well... If and when they ever get an update I'll trade these guys out... Now, with 8th Edition and the new Horde rules were going to be seeing a lot of massed blocks of cheap troops on the field. Marauders are out cheapest troop type so they are the best candidate to be a horde... Though with my army decisions that would mean a unit of 70 models... I think that would drive me insane... Though the thought of 70 (10x7) Marauders with Great Weapons... I think I still like my sanity more lol! I think I'll stick with what I have, two units of 28 (7x4).
Chaos Marauders x28 (7x4) 218pts
-Mark of Nurgle
-Light Armor
-Shield
I need some Chaos Warhounds for screening and flanking and just being a nuisance. Since they cant have Mark of Nurgle I'll give them Poisoned Attacks to make them fluffy.... (get it... fluffy... haha?)
Chaos Warhounds x14 (7x2) 126pts
-Poisoned Attacks
For CORE we're looking at the following:
2 units of Warriors of Chaos (7x3) for 792pts
2 units of Marauders (7x4) for 436pts
2 units of Warhounds (7x2) for 252pts
Total: 1480pts For a 3000pt army, this is nearly 50% in Core units.
So, My second love for WoC models are the new plastic Chaos Knights. This new kit is AWESOME! I traded the old metal Knights for a box of new plastics. SOOO worth it... I've only got the 5 so not big enough right now for the full 14 I want.. I only need two more sets and they are one of the cheapest kits in the range at only $25 (for now anyway). Not to hard to accomplish.
Chaos Knights x14 640pts
-Mark of Nurgle
-Full Command
So thats 640pts for Specials.
Lastly I want a Chaos Warshrine, mainly because I want to take one of those Plague Carts and convert one. It should be nice and gribbly enough for a Nurgle Warshrine. I dont own one yet, but I will soon.
Chaos Warshrine 160pts
-Mark of Nurgle
All this for a grand total of 2280pts (if my math is right). Unfortunately this only leaves 720 points for Lords and Heroes... More on that later I think.

Attack of the Blog Monster!
A friend of mine started a blog to both help motivate and showcase his miniatures and painting skills. With the release of Warhammer Fantasy Battles 8th Edition just a few days away I kind of got the bug again myself. I love Minis gaming. Have since I first got Battletech when I was 12. Was introduced to Rogue Trader version of Warhammer 40k around 1991 and I've had an on again/off again Space Marine army since. I got into Fantasy Battles with 4th Edition but sold my High Elf army and left the game completely with 5th. Kind of got back into WFB with 7th and traded all my Dwarfs (4 sets worth) from Skull Pass for a bunch of Warriors of Chaos and finally bought a ton of High Elves when their new book got released.
My problem... Motivation... Plus I get distracted VERY easily.... OOH! Shiny!
Where was I? Oh, Distractions... Computer gaming mostly... I seem to spend way to much time on my computer... This means I never get anything else done... I'll start a project and then drift off to something else and never get back to it... This unfortunately means I never have a playable army I can field... I've never played 7th edition and here it is at the beginning of 8th and I am not much better off than when 7th came out... ARGH! Frustrating...
And so here I am. My friends blog seems to be working for him quite well so I thought I would give it a try as well. Hopefully it'll work for me too.
